Flick Hails Raphinha Return as Barcelona Close on LaLiga Title

Hansi Flick speaks to press

Barcelona face Osasuna on Saturday and could seal the title if Real Madrid drop points at Espanyol. Raphinha is fit after a March hamstring injury.

Barca can match the 100-point LaLiga record if they win their final five matches, a mark set by Madrid in 2012 and matched by Barca in 2013...

Hansi Flick welcomed Raphinha back from injury on Friday, with Barcelona edging closer to reclaiming the LaLiga crown.

Barca sit 11 points ahead of Real Madrid and could clinch back-to-back LaLiga titles this weekend. A win over Osasuna on Saturday, combined with Madrid dropping points at Espanyol on Sunday, would seal it.

Barcelona meet Real Madrid in El Clasico on May 10, a match that could secure the title if it isn’t wrapped up this weekend. They also remain in contention to match LaLiga’s all-time points record of 100.

Raphinha picked up a hamstring injury with Brazil in March and missed Barcelona’s Champions League quarterfinal exit to Atletico Madrid. He’s now recovered and available for the final push for the title.

“Rapha is a player who always gives us 100 percent, when he's on the pitch or in training,” Flick told reporters.

“His mentality, his attitude, is always 100 percent and that helps us a lot. This season he has... had to suffer (from injury) so for us it's important to have him back.

“He will also travel with us and we'll see what happens tomorrow... I think also for the team it's great to have him back, because he's one of our captains, he's positive and can give us these things that we need.”

Barcelona will be without Lamine Yamal for the rest of the season after the 18-year-old picked up a hamstring injury. Flick said the teenager is making good progress in recovery.

“He's doing good, so the evolution is good, I think we will see him in the World Cup,” said Flick. “He has time, more time, to recover, to come back. And this is what he wants.”

Winning all five remaining league games would take Barcelona to 100 points, matching the record set by Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in 2012 and matched by Tito Vilanova’s Barcelona in 2013.

“We are only focused on the next match, (but) of course we want to win every game between now and the end of the season,” said Flick.

“For me it would be perfect when we can win every game, but also we have tough opponents. Our job is, in every match, to play on our best level, to learn from the game for the next game and for our training.

“So this is our philosophy, our attitude, our mentality.”
