PSV closed out their title-winning Eredivisie campaign with a dominant 5-1 victory over FC Twente. The result sent Twente into the UEFA Europa League qualifiers based on results elsewhere.
Twente’s hopes of reaching the Champions League took a hit when Ryan Flamingo headed PSV in front inside 15 minutes. The goal gave NEC Nijmegen the advantage in the tight race between Twente and Ajax for the final Champions League spot.
FC Twente responded quickly and clinically. Sondre Orjasaeter curled a shot past Matej Kovar, who got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out.
The frantic opening continued, and PSV thought they’d retaken the lead through Ricardo Pepi in the 21st minute. The American’s finish was ruled out for offside.
After Orjasaeter’s equalizer, Twente faded from the game as PSV took control and created most of the chances. Paul Wanner came closest to restoring PSV’s lead in the 30th minute, but his powerful strike hit Przemyslaw Tyton’s crossbar.

Twente did force a good save from Kovar, but PSV went ahead again just before halftime. Belgian teenager Noah Fernandez fired a long-range shot into the bottom corner past Tyton.
Any hope Twente had of finishing third disappeared early in the second half. Dennis Man scored at the near post to make it 3-1.
World Cup hopeful Guus Til added a fourth and gave PSV their 100th league goal of the season. The midfielder beat 39-year-old Tyton with a low finish.
