Robin van Persie’s Feyenoord finished their Eredivisie campaign with a straightforward 2-0 victory over PEC Zwolle. Zwolle held out until the 79th minute before Anis Hadj Moussa scored twice to seal the result.

Van Persie gave Raheem Sterling his first start since April 5. Shaqueel van Persie, the manager’s son, was also named in the matchday squad for the first time in weeks.

With both sides having nothing left to play for, PEC Zwolle were already safe and Feyenoord had secured second place. Feyenoord started the stronger of the two, as Tobias van den Elshout and Luciano Valente both forced early saves from Duke Verduijn.

Feyenoord continued to create chances, and Casper Tengstedt came close to opening the scoring for Robin van Persie’s side. The best chance of the half fell to PEC’s top scorer Koen Kostons, who broke through Feyenoord’s defense. He was denied in a one-on-one by Timon Wellenreuther, and the game remained goalless.

After a half largely dominated by Feyenoord, Casper Tengstedt passed up a major opportunity to score. Anis Hadj Moussa then broke the deadlock with 10 minutes remaining, firing the ball past Verduijn.

The Algerian winger struck again less than 10 minutes later. He doubled Feyenoord’s lead in stoppage time with a powerful shot that went in off the post.

Feyenoord held on for a 2-0 win. The result means they will head into the summer knowing they’ve qualified for the league phase of next season’s UEFA Champions League
