Enrique has reshaped Les Parisiens into a cohesive, high-energy side since taking charge...
David Beckham has explained what sets Luis Enrique’s coaching at PSG apart after the club reached a second Champions League final in two years following their dramatic tie with Bayern. The former PSG player offered a fresh perspective on how the Spanish coach transformed Les Parisiens into Europe’s dominant force.
Appearing on Paramount+ after PSG’s 1-1 draw with Bayern, Beckham highlighted the unity of Enrique’s young squad and then gave fans a glimpse into the coach’s work ethic.
“I spoke to the president of PSG Nasser Al-Khelaifi at PSG. He said in the first year, Luis Enrique virtually slept every night at the training facility,” Beckham revealed.
“He was working on how he wants the team to look, how he wants the team to play, who he wants, what the future looks like,” he explained.
Beckham added the president told him he's never seen work ethic quite like this from any other coach: “He wants them all at the level par, all wanting the same thing. He's bringing these young players through. He also wants players that are just going to run and not stop. And that's what he's got, that's what he's built.”
This season, PSG are six points clear of challengers Lens at the top of the Ligue 1 table. They have a chance to defend their Champions League crown when they meet Arsenal in the final in Budapest on May 30th.
