Kerr says she feels ‘happy’ and ‘grateful’ ahead of her final Chelsea appearance on Saturday against Manchester United.

From Golden Boot winner to Ballon d’Or runner-up, Kerr’s time at Chelsea defined an era of domestic dominance...

Chelsea’s contract with Australia forward Sam Kerr runs out at season’s end, and she won’t be renewing. That closes a six-and-a-half-year run where she became one of the club’s most important players.

She leaves as Chelsea’s fourth-most capped player with 157 appearances, and her 115 goals sit just one behind Fran Kirby’s all-time record. In that time Kerr helped the Blues win five WSL titles, three FA Cups, and three League Cups during a dominant stretch for the club.

“Looking back on my time at Chelsea and knowing this is the last one, I just feel happy,” Kerr said before her final game for the club on Saturday against Manchester United.

“I feel so grateful to have played for this club for six years and won as many trophies as we could.”

The Australia captain won the WSL Golden Boot twice and came second in the 2023 Ballon d’Or voting before an ACL injury kept her out for 20 months. She made her return earlier this season and scored her 100th goal for Chelsea.

Now 32, Kerr has 16 goals in 29 appearances this campaign. She also became Chelsea’s all-time top scorer in the WSL with 64 goals after finding the net against Leicester City earlier this month.
