Xabi Alonso is expected to be announced as Chelsea’s new manager in the coming days, with multiple trusted outlets reporting the news this evening.
Chelsea have been searching for a replacement since sacking Liam Rosenior after a rocky 107-day spell in charge.
After Rosenior’s exit and a wave of fan protests, the club’s owners said they’d take time to reflect before making their next move.

Former Real Madrid coach Alonso has been at the top of their list throughout, and reports from David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano say a deal is now in place.
The 44-year-old is set to sign a four-year contract with Chelsea, and the club is expected to make it official very soon.
Alonso was in London earlier this week to finalize the terms of the deal with Chelsea’s board.
