Brondby Spoil Midtjylland’s Home Party
FC Midtjylland came into the match against Brondby with momentum after winning the Danish Cup Final on Thursday. They beat FC Copenhagen 1-0 to lift the trophy and lift morale.
Mike Tullberg’s side started strongly and led 2-0 at the break. Valdemar Byskov and Mikel Gogorza got the goals to put the hosts in a commanding position.
Brondby needed three points to keep their chance of a Conference League playoff against FC Copenhagen alive. Mayckel Lahdo gave them a lifeline in the 56th minute by pulling one back. Sho Fukuda and Luis Binks then scored late to complete a stunning 3-2 win in Herning.
Nordsjaelland Seal Bronze with Dominant Win in Haderslev
FC Nordsjaelland carried the best form of any team in the Championship playoffs into Sunday night. They capped it with a 4-1 victory away at Sonderjyske to clinch the bronze medals.
The Copenhagen side took control early, going 2-0 up inside 13 minutes through goals from Levy Nene and Runar Norheim. Norheim added a third just before halftime to put Nordsjaelland firmly in charge.
Magnus Jensen gave the hosts a brief lift four minutes after the break with a converted penalty. Nordsjaelland stayed composed, and Ibrahim Adel sealed the result with a fourth goal four minutes from time.
In the relegation playoffs, it was already decided last weekend that Fredericia and Vejle would drop to the 1st Division.
