Super Eagles to take on World Cup-bound Portugal and European side Poland in high-profile friendlies in June...
The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that the Super Eagles will take on Portugal and Poland in exciting international friendlies come June. This is a great opportunity for Eric Chelle's team to test their skills against top-notch opponents.
The Eagles recently had a mixed bag in a four-nation tournament in Turkey, beating Iran and drawing 2-2 with Jordan. These upcoming matches against Portugal and Poland will be a great chance for them to bounce back stronger.
The Super Eagles are set to face Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on June 3, followed by a clash with Portugal seven days later at a venue yet to be confirmed, according to the NFF.
“NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport, confirmed on Thursday that the clash with Poland will take place at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in the country’s capital, Warsaw on 3rd June, while the clash with Portugal will take place in Portugal on 10th June, with a venue to be announced in the coming days,” a statement from the NFF read.

“The game against the Selecao das Quinas, name of the Portugal senior men's team, will be the last game for the hosts before they fly to the far west to take part in this summer’s FIFA World Cup finals being jointly hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.
“The Cup holders, Super Eagles, are also scheduled to defend their crown at this year’s Unity Cup Tournament in London, taking place 26th – 30th May.”
Nigeria's World Cup dreams were dashed after they fell short against DR Congo in the play-offs held in Morocco, meaning they won't be featuring at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite the setback, the Super Eagles bounced back to finish third at the Africa Cup of Nations, where they edged Egypt on penalties after a thrilling draw.
