Perth Stadium to host AC Milan vs Inter vs Juventus pre-season friendlies in August...
AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus will play pre-season friendlies in Perth, Australia in August. The teams will face each other in a series of matches at Perth Stadium.
The decision comes after Serie A scrapped plans to stage an AC Milan vs Como match in Perth in February due to conditions imposed by the Asian Football Confederation.
The match would've been a first for European football - a major domestic league game played outside its home country. AC Milan were set to face Inter Milan on August 5th.
Inter had a packed schedule, facing Juventus just three days later, and then Juventus were due to play Serie B side Palermo on August 11th.
Western Australia Tourism Minister Reece Whitby believes the games would be a huge boost to the local tourist sector. “We're consistently seeing the positive impact these major events have on our communities - boosting our tourism sector, supporting local jobs and businesses, and diversifying Western Australia's economy,” Whitby said.
The minister's comments highlight the economic benefits Western Australia expects from hosting the high-profile matches.
