Bayern Munich have revealed that Germany forward Serge Gnabry is a major doubt for this summer’s World Cup after suffering a thigh injury.

In a statement released Saturday, the Bundesliga club confirmed Gnabry will be sidelined for “an extended period” with a torn adductor muscle in his right thigh.

The reigning champions gave no official timeline for his return, but German media suggest Gnabry has played his final club game of the season and could be ruled out of this summer’s World Cup.

The 30-year-old featured from the start in both legs as Bayern knocked out Real Madrid to set up a semi-final with PSG. The club did not disclose when or how the injury happened.

Across 21 league appearances this season, the former Arsenal man has contributed eight goals and seven assists.

Gnabry is a key part of Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad, with 59 caps and 26 goals for his country.

Bayern are also into the German Cup semi-finals and can seal the Bundesliga title as early as Sunday if they avoid defeat at home to Stuttgart.
