No Future at Tottenham or Bayern: Palhinha Set for Summer Transfer Market
| Palhinha faces uncertain future with Spurs, Bayern unwilling to keep him |
Tottenham are not expected to sign Joao Palhinha permanently even if they avoid relegation. Bayern also have no role for him under Vincent Kompany and will seek a sale.
With Spurs in a relegation fight and Bayern set to move him on, Joao Palhinha is headed for the transfer market...
Joao Palhinha left waiting as Tottenham and Bayern stall on future
Joao Palhinha faces an unclear summer, with neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Bayern Munich planning to retain him.
The midfielder joined Spurs on loan from Bayern, with an option to make the deal permanent for about €30 million at the end of the season.
The agreement was once viewed as a simple path to a permanent move to north London. That now seems far less probable.
Palhinha hasn’t matched his anticipated form, and Tottenham’s season has declined to the extent that they’re embroiled in a serious relegation battle.
With results and displays under the microscope, there’s little desire at the club to commit to a major expense.
🚨 João Palhinha will most likely return to Bayern Munich after the season is finished. That outcome isn't dependent on Spurs' Premier League status for the next campaign.

Sources suggest Spurs are unlikely to trigger the option even if they stay up. Relegation would automatically kill any chance of a permanent deal.
Going back to Bayern, though, won’t fix the issue.
The Bundesliga club has no plans to bring Palhinha back into the squad, and head coach Vincent Kompany isn’t expected to have a role for him moving forward.
That leaves the 29-year-old staring at a summer of uncertainty. He’s under contract at Bayern but has no clear spot in their plans, and no future at Tottenham either.
Even if his performances improve in the season’s final weeks, Palhinha is expected to be put up for sale, with Bayern set to pursue a permanent transfer instead of another loan.
Interest is expected, and we understand former club Fulham could look to bring him back to London.
For now, the midfielder is focused on Spurs’ battle to stay up, with no certainty about his next step.
