Italian meets Jiri Lehecka in fourth round...

World No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti of Italy reached the fourth round in Madrid with a 6-4, 7-5 win over the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor on Sunday.

Coming off his first win since a hamstring injury, Tallon Griekspoor had virtually moved up to 31st in the ATP Rankings before facing ninth-ranked Lorenzo Musetti in the third round in Madrid.

The Dutch No. 1 fell behind early after Musetti broke quickly, with the Italian dominating on serve and dictating most of the first set. Griekspoor pulled level late, but gave the break back and Musetti closed out the set, winning 14 of 18 first-serve points and converting 2 of 6 break points.

The second set started similarly, with Musetti breaking early and flashing a brilliant backhand. But he couldn’t build on the fourth-game break to extend his lead.

Instead, Griekspoor battled back by taking more risks. The aggressive play earned him three break points mid-set, and he converted the third to level again.

Both players dug in under the Spanish sun, with return points scarce across the final six games. Musetti was the only one to win multiple return points in a game, and he did it at 5-5 to grab the decisive break.

After 101 minutes, Musetti sealed a 6-4, 7-5 win over Tallon Griekspoor to reach the round of 16 in Madrid, where he’ll meet Czech star Jiri Lehecka.
