LeBron James became just the fourth player in NBA history to reach 12,000 career assists during the Lakers' matchup against the Suns on Friday.

His 12,000th came during the first quarter when James lobbed a pass across the court to DeAndre Ayton under the basket. He joins John Stockton (15,806), Chris Paul (12,552), and Jason Kidd (12,091) as the only players to achieve the feat.

LeBron James recently made history by becoming the NBA's all-time games played leader, surpassing Robert Parish's record of 1,611 games when he took the court for his 1,612th game against the Orlando Magic on March 21st.

“It just kind of happened,” said James, regarding the most games played. “It was not on the list of things that I wanted to accomplish. Games played, all-time leader in points ... 10-point streak, those things was not in my mind.”

“I wanted to be the greatest, one of the greatest, if not the greatest ever to play this game. I wanted to be an NBA champion. I wanted to possibly win Rookie of the Year, make All-Star appearances, win a gold medal, win some MVPs ... those were some of my goals.”

LeBron James was averaging 20.9 points, 7.1 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game heading into Friday's matchup against the Suns. The Lakers, currently 51-29, hold the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference with the NBA Playoffs looming.
