“They say all good things must come to an end.” He leaves after 10 years, 293 games, and six league titles...
John Stones will depart Manchester City at the end of the season after 10 years with the club, marking an emotional farewell.
Stones has played 293 games for City and won multiple titles, including the historic treble in 2023 when they claimed the league, Champions League, and FA Cup in one season.
Overall, he helped City secure six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and the old Club World Cup during a legendary stint with the club.
Stones announced the news on Instagram. “They say all good things must come to an end… but this thing we have had has been the greatest, and it will remain a part of me forever.”
The club also confirmed his exit as he gets set to say goodbye to fans in the final game of the season against Aston Villa at the Etihad.
The England international has been linked with a move back to Everton as he considers his options before the summer transfer window. He will leave alongside Bernardo Silva, with two club legends departing together.
“John Stones will leave Manchester City in the summer, bringing an end to a memorable and hugely successful 10-year stay at the Etihad.
“Having joined City in 2016, where the English central defender became Guardiola's second signing, Stones has gone on to make 293 appearances in what has been a magnificent decade of service to date.
“The 31-year-old's huge contribution across the most sustained and successful era in the Club’s history stands without question.”
