Malmo End Djurgarden’s perfect start as Elfsborg go top of Allsvenskan...
Elfsborg and Malmo sit joint top of the early Allsvenskan table with seven points from three games each, after both secured 1-0 away wins at Degerfors and Djurgarden, respectively, on Friday evening.
Rosengren and Haksabanovic Combine as Malmo Punish Djurgarden
Two Swedish heavyweights met at 3Arena in Stockholm, with the hosts aiming to maintain their perfect start while Malmo looked to prove their opening-day draw with Orgryte was just early-season rust.
Djurgarden dominated possession in the first half and looked capable of extending their winning run, but lacked creativity. They registered 10 shots to the visitors’ three, yet Patric Aslund’s effort was the only one on target, and Robin Olsen kept it out comfortably.

On the hour mark, Malmo made them pay with their first shot on goal. Otto Rosengren’s driven corner to the back post found Sead Haksabanovic, and the former Djurgarden man caught it perfectly with a cushioned volley that flew into the bottom corner.
But much like the first 45 minutes, the Iron Stoves had around two-thirds of the ball but only managed one effort on goal, with Bo Hegland coming closest to denying Olsen a clean sheet. MFF held on for the win, though it was marred by Pontus Jansson’s injury in added time.
Magnusson Free-Kick Sees Elfsborg Join Malmo at the Summit
Degerfors bounced back from a heavy round-one loss to Sirius by easing past Halmstad last time out, but once again the away side took all three points at Stora Valla. Elfsborg moved level with Malmo on seven points thanks to a 1-0 win.

Just like in Stockholm, the first half offered little in the way of chances, and just like in Stockholm, the only goal came in the third quarter from a set piece. Elfsborg won a free-kick just outside the hosts' box, and Julius Magnusson whipped it around the wall and past goalkeeper Matvei Igonen.
Ludvig Fritzson came closest for the home side, after Marcus Rafferty went down on the edge of the area only to be booked for simulation. In truth, though, Degerfors didn’t do enough to force their way back into the game. Elfsborg sit top of the table, ahead of Malmo on alphabetical order alone.
