The Cleveland Guardians will promote former No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana for Tuesday’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays, scheduled for Wednesday 8:10am AEST.

The 23-year-old from Sydney is the only top draft pick in Cleveland’s franchise history. Rookie Juan Brito will be sent to Triple-A after a tough stretch with the Guardians this year, with Bazzana slotting in at second base.
Bazzana is batting .287 with two homers and 10 RBI across 24 games for Triple-A Columbus this season. He owns a .933 OPS, plus 21 walks, 11 doubles, two triples, and eight steals in 10 attempts.

He played for Team Australia in the 2026 World Baseball Classic earlier this year, where he hit .188 with one home run and two RBI.
The Guardians are second in the AL Central at 15-15, trailing the first-place Detroit Tigers by half a game at 15-14.
