GOG suffered a massive Champions League exit, losing 40-28 to Nantes in the return leg, a 13-goal gap that sealed their fate. They'll be kicking themselves over missed chances in the first leg, which they narrowly lost.
Nantes deservedly booked their spot in the quarter-finals, where they'll face Barcelona.
GOG's good start in Svendborg didn't pan out, and Nantes snatched the win with a single goal. The French side was even stronger at home, and Wednesday's game was no different.
Nantes dominated, despite GOG's promising start.
GOG fought hard initially, staying level at 7-7, and had some great counter-attacking moments. But Nantes tightened up, and their goalkeeper Ignacio Biosca was on fire.
GOG struggled to break through, with Hjalte Lykke finding it tough from distance and hitting the woodwork a few times.
Nantes pulled away, extending their lead to 20-11 and basically killing the game. They were totally in control at half time, leading 21-12.

GOG might've felt they had a chance in the second half, but really Nantes just coasted, resting up for the next match.
The game lost its spark, and both teams started rotating players to give benchwarmers a chance. GOG's usual shooters were off, except Lasse Vilhelmsen, who led the away team with six goals.
Frederik Bjerre managed just three goals.
Valero Rivera stole the show for Nantes, scoring nine goals and topping the match scorers. Meanwhile, Aalborg's still in the tournament, making it to the quarter-finals.
