Nottingham Forest boosted their Premier League survival bid on Sunday, coming from a goal down to beat already-relegated Burnley 4-1 at the City Ground.
Forest knew a win would move them five points clear of the relegation zone, with three points widely expected against a Burnley side already down.
The opening 20 minutes were uneventful, with no shots registered until the 25th minute when James Ward-Prowse tested Matz Sels with a 30-yard free kick.
The effort bounced awkwardly in front of Sels and forced a save, but there was little else to note in a flat first half.
Despite having every reason to attack Burnley, Forest went into halftime behind after Scott Parker’s side struck with a sucker punch on the stroke of the interval.
A huge chance to equalise came within 10 minutes of the restart. Substitute Igor Jesus had a deflected shot fall to an unmarked Morgan Gibbs-White, but he miscued his effort wide.
The Forest captain quickly made amends. He ghosted in at the back post to meet a hopeful cross, which Ward-Prowse nodded perfectly into his path, then took a touch before slotting into the bottom corner for his second.

The comeback was complete six minutes later. Gibbs-White struck again, arriving at the back post to volley in Omari Hutchinson’s inch-perfect cross.
A nervy finish looked likely for Forest, but Gibbs-White settled it 12 minutes from time. He rose to head home from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick and seal three vital points, giving Forest a healthy cushion above the relegation zone.
