New York Islanders rookie Victor Eklund tallied his first career NHL point with an assist on Bo Horvat’s 300th goal during Tuesday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Eklund, 19, was taken 25th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft and spent most of the season in Sweden with Djurgardens IF, posting six goals and 18 assists in 43 games, before recording two goals and seven assists in seven AHL games.

As for Horvat, it was also his 31st goal of the season, as the 31-year-old veteran has now reached at least 30 goals in four of the past six seasons.

The Ontario native has been with the Islanders since they traded for him during the 2022-2023 season. He still has five years left on his contract at $8.5 million per year before he becomes an unrestricted free agent after the 2030-2031 season.
