Enzo Fernandez faces Chelsea backlash after public comments on future spark crisis...
Chelsea have dropped their record signing Enzo Fernandez for two matches after the midfielder publicly expressed doubts about his future at Stamford Bridge. Manager Liam Rosenior announced the decision on Friday, citing Fernandez's comments as the reason for the sanction.
The Argentine World Cup winner will miss Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale and next Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester City. Fernandez, who has been wearing the captain's armband in Reece James' absence, had said he would “look at his options after the World Cup” and expressed a desire to live in Spain.
Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea's vice captain, has sparked speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge. He said, “I don't know what the future holds. Right now I'm focused on this; there are eight games left and the FA Cup. Then there's the World Cup, and after that we'll see.” He also expressed a desire to live in Spain, mentioning, “I'd like to live in Madrid. It's a beautiful city, reminds me of Buenos Aires.”
“I spoke with Enzo an hour ago. As a football club, with me as part of that process, we've made a decision he won't be available for tomorrow's game (against Port Vale) and he won't be available for Manchester City next Sunday,” Rosenior told reporters.

Enzo Fernandez, 25, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, though he denied talks with the Spanish club were taking place. He's contracted until 2032, making him a key player at Stamford Bridge.
Leadership Under Fire
Liam Rosenior described Enzo Fernandez's public comments as “disappointing,” given his leadership role amid Chelsea's struggles. The Blues have lost four games in a row, crashed out of the Champions League, and dropped to sixth in the Premier League.
“I think for Enzo it's disappointing to speak in that way. What I will say about Enzo is that, in terms of him as a person, I've got no bad words to say,” Rosenior added.
“But a line was crossed in terms of our culture and what we want to build, so we had to make a sanction.”
Several Chelsea players reportedly felt Enzo Fernandez's leadership style was unimpressive, particularly after he berated teammates on the pitch during the club's recent poor run of form. This comes after Fernandez expressed frustration following defeats, including clashing with goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen during the 5-2 loss to PSG.

“Enzo will NOT play tomorrow and against Man City. I have no bad words for him but a line was crossed and we had to SANCTION Enzo”, says Liam Rosenior. pic.twitter.com/reYYMOpTUE
“The door is not closed on Enzo, that's very important. It's a sanction,” Rosenior said. “You have to protect this club and culture,” he said. “The line was crossed in the international break.
“What I do know is that when he's been on the pitch, even in the loss at Everton, there was no lack of commitment in his performance.”
