Bayern seal 35th Bundesliga title but Kompany eyes Cup and Champions League

Bayern came from behind to beat Stuttgart 4-2 and seal the Bundesliga. Kompany, Kane, and Kimmich say the treble hunt comes first.

Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich delay title celebrations to focus on treble chase. Kane says celebrations will be sweeter with more trophies as Bayern chase a treble after sealing the Bundesliga with four games left...

Bayern Munich clinched their 35th Bundesliga title on Sunday but shelved the celebrations, including the traditional beer showers, as they keep their focus on winning a treble this season.

Bayern came from behind to beat Stuttgart 4-2, opening an unassailable 15-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund with four games left.

While players chasing each other with giant beer glasses is a familiar part of Bayern’s near-annual title parties, the club held off celebrating with Wednesday’s German Cup semi-final at Bayer Leverkusen looming.

Bayern are also into the Champions League semi-finals, where they’ll meet holders Paris Saint-Germain.

Luis Diaz provided two first-half assists and Jamal Musiala added one, but both were taken off at half-time with the crucial final phase of the season ahead.

“I think it's coming - yes, it's coming,” Musiala told DAZN of the traditional beer shower celebrations.

“I think we're planning a proper celebration, probably at the last home game.

“We're going straight to the changing rooms. I don't think much is going on right now, but definitely for the last game.”

Bayern striker Harry Kane, who has won two Bundesliga titles and a Supercup since joining in 2023, said any celebrations would mean more with extra trophies added.

“I think it's still important to celebrate, and I will with my family and friends and the guys in the players' lounge, but it's a little bit different to last year.

“We weren't in any other competitions, so we had the chance to really celebrate and enjoy a big night together.

“That probably won't happen yet, but we'll find time for that... For now we enjoy tonight, but then obviously the full focus will be on Wednesday.”

Before the game, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany told DAZN: “We're now at a stage in this season where we can all live with waiting a little longer before we celebrate.”

After the match, Kompany shifted focus to the two remaining trophies up for grabs.

We've had very few losses this season. So many successes are possible. We're going to Leverkusen. We know it's a football match, anything can happen,” Kompany said.

“But we simply have the belief that we can do it. That's worth a lot in football.”

Joshua Kimmich, who captained the side with Manuel Neuer rested, praised Bayern’s ruthless title defence but warned rivals the Bavarians aren’t finished yet.

“The way we won the title was special. We've rarely won as consistently and convincingly as we did this year.

“But we still have a few goals this season.”
