Allsvenskan Round-Up: Sirius Win Five-Goal Thriller, AIK Fall at Degerfors

Sirius pass Malmo

Sirius kept their perfect Allsvenskan start alive with a 3-2 thriller at Malmo. Elsewhere, Degerfors shocked AIK and Kalmar held Göteborg 1-1.

Sirius win thriller in Malmo to continue setting early pace in Allsvenskan...

Sirius’ perfect start to the Allsvenskan season faced a big test in round four, and they passed it with a 3-2 away win at Malmö to go back top. Elsewhere Thursday night, AIK were stunned by Degerfors while Kalmar and GAIS each earned their first point.

Sirius survive Malmo scare to retake Allsvenskan lead

A win would send Sirius back to first in the table, but it was never going to be simple away to a Malmö side that needed a two-goal win to claim top spot themselves.

The season’s early surprise package made it look easy, though. They went ahead on 13 minutes when a corner dropped to Mohamed Soumah seven yards out. His first effort was blocked, but he rifled the rebound into the top corner.

Malmo looked to have turned it around 10 minutes after halftime. Adrian Skogmar broke free on the right and his low cross pinged around the Sirius box before landing for Sead Haksabanovic, whose shot took a heavy deflection on its way in.

But it took the Uppsala side just five minutes to regain the lead. Isak Bjerkebo had played like a man with a point to prove against his former club, and got his reward when he cut in from the left and slotted a composed finish into the bottom corner.

Six minutes later the lead grew further. Neo Jonsson reached a free-kick at the byline and fired it across for Robbie Ure to tap in his third league goal of the season.

MFF set up a grandstand finish with 13 minutes left when Adrian Skogmar played a neat one-two with Jens Stryger Larsen before drilling low into the net. Sirius held on, though, for another impressive win that handed Miguel Ángel Ramírez his first Allsvenskan defeat.

Wilson own goal and late drama stun unbeaten AIK in Degerfors

Degerfors had picked up all three of their points on the road this season, so a third home game in four - against an unbeaten AIK - did little to inspire confidence.

Still, they finally scored at home for the first time in 2026, even if they needed help from an AIK player. On 15 minutes, Ludvig Fritzson whipped a low ball in from the right and it was turned into his own net by a stretching Stanley Wilson.

The visitors made up for that error deep in first-half stoppage time when an off-balance Erik Flataker squeezed a pass through for Johan Hove to level. It stayed 1-1 until five minutes from time, when the Solna side conceded again in bizarre circumstances.

An AIK free-kick 10 yards inside their own half was hit straight into Dijan Vukojevic a yard away. Instead of ordering a retake, the referee played on. Vukojevic latched onto a sloppy backpass, raced clear, and squared for Arman Taranis to tap in.

The visitors were furious as they suffered a first defeat of the season and stayed on seven points, while Degerfors moved to within a point of them as their up-and-down start continued.

Headers shared as Kalmar earn first point, Goteborg woes continue

Newly promoted Kalmar picked up their first point of the season, while IFK Goteborg’s poor start rolled on. They sit just one point ahead of the Röda Broder.

The home side led just before the half-hour when Rony Jansson’s cross was met by a stooping header from Charlie Rosenqvist.

Blavitt leveled in similar fashion in first-half stoppage time, with Adam Bergmark-Wiberg crossing for Tobias Heintz to nod home. Neither side found a winner after the break, leaving both stuck in the bottom three.

GAIS and Mjallby fire blanks as 2025 surprise packages stall

Mjallby were arguably the biggest story of the 2025 Allsvenskan, but GAIS qualifying for Europe was huge too. Both sides looked a shadow of their former selves in a goalless draw in Gothenburg, with the hosts picking up a first point while MAIF have just one win from four.

GAIS may feel hard done by, as Tony Miettinen appeared to handle while defending a corner in first-half stoppage time. The referee waved away the home side’s penalty appeals.
