Turkey beats Kosovo 1-0, qualifies for FIFA World Cup for first time since 2002. Kerem Akturkoglu scores winner as Turkey secures World Cup spot in North America.

Turkey came out strong after the break and broke the deadlock within 10 minutes...

Turkey has secured a spot in the World Cup for the first time in 24 years, thanks to a 1-0 win over Kosovo in Pristina. Kerem Aktürkoğlu scored the only goal of the match, tapping in from close range after a scuffed shot from Orkun Kökçü. This victory marks Turkey's fourth win in four meetings with Kosovo.

Kosovo, on the other hand, had a historic run, coming close to qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since joining FIFA and UEFA in 2016. Their impressive 4-3 win over Slovakia had brought them to the brink of qualification, but Turkey's experience ultimately proved too much.

Turkey was on a mission, looking to end their 24-year wait for a World Cup appearance. The hunger and desire were palpable from the start in Pristina, with both teams desperate to secure a win. The first shot on target came early, with Arijanet Muric comfortably saving Kerem Aktürkoğlu's low drive from outside the area.

Despite the intensity, clear-cut chances were scarce before the break, with both defences putting in strong performances, making crucial blocks and interceptions.

Both teams had decent attempts from distance, with Orkan Kokcu's strike narrowly missing the target. Turkey's goalkeeper, Uğurcan Cakır, made an impressive save, tipping Fisnik Asllani's shot onto the crossbar.

Turkey came out strong after the break and broke the deadlock within 10 minutes. Kenan Yıldız's pullback found Orkun Kokcu, whose shot was tapped in by Kerem Akturkoglu from close range, securing the 1-0 lead.

The goal seemed to boost Turkey's confidence, and they pushed for more. Kenan Yıldız had a great chance to extend the lead, but Arijanet Muric made a strong save, denying Yıldız's shot that was headed for the top corner.

Kosovo showed plenty of fight, but they struggled to trouble Ugurcan Cakır, often finding themselves in promising positions but unable to create real pressure on the Turkey goalkeeper.

Florent Muslija had a shot from distance that drifted wide, but Ugurcan Cakır was probably going to save it anyway. Kosovo's best chance came five minutes later, with Fisnik Asllani's low shot forcing Çakır to make a save.

In the end, Kosovo's efforts weren't enough, and they fell short of their World Cup qualification dreams. Turkey's 1-0 win secured their spot in the tournament.

Kosovo's disappointment is Turkey's gain, and they're now dreaming of replicating their 2002 semi-final run. The Crescent-Stars are on a roll, unbeaten in six matches, and with their talented squad, they're dark horses for the trophy in North America.
