The Ottawa Senators have bolstered their lineup by acquiring forward Warren Foegele from the Los Angeles Kings. In exchange, the Kings received a 2026 second-round pick and a conditional 2026 third-round pick. Foegele, 29, brings energy and penalty-killing ability to Ottawa, with 7 goals and 2 assists in 47 games this season.

This trade adds depth to the Senators' forward group, potentially solidifying their middle-six lineup. Foegele's experience and physical play could be key assets for Ottawa's playoff push. He joins the Senators with one year remaining on his $3.5 million contract.

Warren Foegele, 29, has posted 7 goals and 2 assists in 49 games this season. He had back-to-back 20-goal, 20-assist seasons prior to this year.

A third-round pick in the 2014 Draft, Foegele made his NHL debut with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2018-19, scoring 2 goals and adding 1 assist in 2 games.

Foegele's next three seasons with Carolina saw him score 10, 13, and 10 goals respectively. He then joined the Edmonton Oilers for three years (2021-2023), playing all 82 games in his first season with the team. His time with the Oilers culminated in career highs of 20 goals and 21 assists.

Foegele took a big step with the Kings, setting new career highs with 24 goals and 22 assists. This season, he's been less involved, and his numbers reflect it - 7 goals, 2 assists in 49 games.

He's been dealing with injury issues, missing November and averaging about 2 minutes less ice time per game.

Foegele's moving to a new team in a different conference, trading a Wild Card spot in the West for one in the East. The Kings (24-22-14) are two teams out of that second Western Conference Wild Card spot.

The Senators (29-22-9) are chasing the second Eastern Conference Wild Card spot, currently sitting behind three teams.
