PSG's upcoming Ligue 1 match against Lens has been postponed to May 13 to give them extra prep time for their Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool. The original match was set for April 11, but the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) approved the postponement to help PSG focus on their European campaign.

Similarly, Strasbourg's visit to Brest, scheduled for April 12, has also been moved to May 13. This decision allows Strasbourg to prepare for their Europa Conference League quarter-final against Mainz. The LFP stated that these changes aim to strengthen France's UEFA coefficient ranking, securing four Champions League spots.

“These decisions are in line with the board of directors’ clear strategic aim of enabling France to retain its fifth place in the UEFA coefficient rankings, ⁠which secures four places in the UEFA Champions League,” the LFP said in a statement.

PSG, the reigning European champs, face Liverpool just before their Ligue 1 clash with Lens. The Champions League return leg is at Anfield on April 14.

Lens and PSG are neck-and-neck in Ligue 1, tied on points (Lens has played more games). Lens had previously resisted PSG's request to reschedule their match.

“It seems to us, in ‌fact, that a worrying sentiment is taking hold: that of a French league ‌gradually being relegated to the status of an adjustment variable at the whim of certain parties' European imperatives,” Lens said in a statement on ⁠Monday.
