Argentina striker Joaquin Panichelli suffers ACL tear, likely missing World Cup tournament...

Argentina striker Joaquin Panichelli is facing a tough time after suffering a knee injury in training on Thursday, with reports suggesting he's torn his ACL. This is a huge blow for the 23-year-old, who's only made one appearance for the World Cup holders and was expected to play in Friday's friendly against Mauritania.

Panichelli's injury is a major setback for Argentina, who are looking to defend their World Cup title. He was in top form for Strasbourg, scoring 16 goals in 27 matches, and was considered a strong contender for Lionel Scaloni's World Cup squad.

Joaquin Panichelli, Strasbourg's top scorer with 16 goals in Ligue 1, has suffered a knee injury while training with Argentina. The Argentine Football Association announced he'll undergo medical tests to assess the injury's extent.

Panichelli's injury is suspected to be an ACL tear, which would rule him out for the rest of the season and potentially the World Cup. This is a major blow to Strasbourg, who rely heavily on him, and Argentina, who had called him up for the upcoming friendly matches.

Reports from local media suggest  Panichelli might've torn his ACL, which would put him out of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, starting June 11th. However, Barcelona hasn't confirmed this, stating he'll be out for around five weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Argentina, on the other hand, will kick off their title defense on June 16th against Algeria, followed by matches against Austria and Jordan in Group J of the expanded 48-team tournament.
