Nigeria faces Iran and Jordan in international friendlies, with new faces in the squad...

Nigeria's coach Eric Chelle has dropped Victor Osimhen and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali from the 23-man squad for the upcoming four-nations tournament.

The Super Eagles will face Iran, Jordan, and Costa Rica in the tournament, looking to bounce back from their third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Nigeria Football Federation sees the tournament as a key part of its technical development plans, aimed at boosting the national team's performance.

To play these games, the national team have invited Ademola Lookman, Maduka Okoye, Akor Adams, Frank Onyeka, Igoh Ogbu and Fulham's trio of Samuel Chukwueze, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi.

Goalkeeper Nwabali has been without a club since terminating his contract with South Africa’s Chippa United, and it is understandable that he was left out for Francis Uzoho and Israel-based Adeleye Adebayo.

Others include Bruno Onyemaechi, Zaidu Sanusi, Emmanuel Fernandez, Paul Onuachu, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Chidera Ejuke.

The tournament kicks off on March 27th, with Jordan taking on Costa Rica, while Iran faces Nigeria's Super Eagles later that day.

Four days after facing Iran, Nigeria will take on Jordan, while Iran plays Costa Rica in their second match. This tournament is happening alongside the Inter-Continental World Cup playoffs.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has petitioned FIFA over DR Congo's alleged use of ineligible players during the African playoffs, but FIFA has rejected the petition, and the NFF has appealed.
