Marco Odermatt has made a triumphant return to the top of the podium, winning the men's World Cup Alpine skiing downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. This marks his first win since the Milano Cortina Olympics, where he took home two silvers and a bronze.
The Swiss skier edged out Alexis Monney by a mere 0.04 seconds, with Stefan Rogentin taking third place. Surprisingly, triple gold medallist Franjo von Allmen didn't make the podium, finishing sixth.
“Skiing was more fun again. I like these conditions when the atmosphere is a little bit more relaxed.
“It's a tough downhill, difficult with the snow, and also with the warm temperature. To get the race tension is not easy for me today.”
Odermatt's win boosts his lead in the downhill standings to 175 points over Franjo von Allmen.
