The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) is frowning at Nike after Erling Haaland prematurely revealed the national team's World Cup shirts. Haaland posted a video on Instagram showing off the new jerseys, beating the NFF's planned reveal on Monday.
NFF's Head of Brand Management, Jan Ove Nystuen, told NRK, “Maybe they went out with the kit now because of the danger of things being leaked, I'm not sure. But now the cat is out of the bag. And the race we've been on has come to an end.”
Erling Haaland gave the game away early! The striker posted on Instagram, showing off Norway's new home and away kits, made in collaboration with Nike. The kit launch wasn't supposed to happen until next Monday, but Haaland's post beat everyone to it.
Neither the Norwegian Football Federation nor Nike's Nystuen were happy about the surprise reveal, as neither had been informed about Haaland's plan to spill the beans. Now, the new kits are officially out in the open.
“This is classic. This makes us look very bad, admits Nystuen. “But Erling (Braut Haaland) is not to blame for this at all. Here, others have broken the publishing cycle,” says Nystuen.
Jan Ove Nystuen, Head of Brand Management at the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF), has denied that the organization will take up the matter with Nike over Erling Haaland's premature reveal of the World Cup kits. "No. It just shows how much pressure there is on these kits. I think we have more important things to argue about than this,” Nystuen said.
Erling Haaland starred in an epic escape room adventure to launch Norway's new World Cup kits. In the video, Haaland is tasked with “finding the goods” and uncovers the home kit first. He then discovers a hidden room with the sleek black away kit, and his reaction says it all: “Beautiful.”
Norway's World Cup journey kicks off on June 16, when they'll face the winner of the FIFA Playoff mini-tournament between Bolivia, Suriname, and Iraq in Boston.
