Miami Open: Sinner vs Lehecka - Unbeaten Showdown

Jannik Sinner Vs Jiri Lehecka
Sinner seeks Sunshine Double in Miami Open final vs Lehecka

Jannik Sinner takes on Jiri Lehecka in the Miami Open final, aiming to complete the Sunshine Double. Unbeaten Sinner faces Lehecka, with world number one spot on the line.

“Standing here again, in the final, means very, very much to me...”

Jannik Sinner is on fire, and he's set to take on Jiri Lehecka in the Miami Open final Sunday. The Italian is looking to add another title to his Indian Wells win this month, and he's in top form.

Sinner is chasing history, aiming to become the eighth man to complete the “Sunshine Double” by winning both Indian Wells and the Miami Open. If he succeeds, he'll be the first to do so since Roger Federer in 2017.

The four-time Grand Slam champion has stormed into the title match without dropping a set, boasting an impressive record streak of 32 consecutive sets won at the Masters 1000 level.

His winning run includes titles in Paris and Indian Wells, positioning him to join an elite group. If he wins, he'll be the third man, alongside Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, to claim three consecutive Masters titles.

“It's good to put myself in this position,” Sinner said after dispatching fourth-ranked German Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) in Friday's semi-finals.

“Obviously, I try to perform in the best possible way in every event (but) in bigger events I like to play more. So, I'm very happy that I can play one more final here in Miami.”

Sinner is back in the Miami final for the fourth time, looking to reclaim his title. He won it in 2024, but missed the 2025 edition due to a three-month doping ban.

“Standing here again, in the final, means very, very much to me,” he said.

Sinner's blazing form in the March hardcourt tournaments has ramped up the pressure on Carlos Alcaraz in the battle for world number one spot.

Despite leading their head-to-head 3-0, Sinner knows Lehecka won't be a pushover – he's expecting a tough fight in the final.

“He played incredible tennis throughout the whole week here,” Sinner said. “So, he doesn't have anything to lose.

“It's definitely a court that suits him very well. And then how he plays tennis is a very flat-hitting forehand and backhand, serving very well.

“He is a very, very aggressive player. And this is perfect for these kinds of conditions here.”

Jiri Lehecka is making waves in the tennis world, chasing his third ATP title and making his first Masters 1000 final appearance. He's on a roll, having not dropped a set en route to the final, including a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over Arthur Fils in the semis. “It feels great,” Lehecka said, clearly thrilled with his performance.

Lehecka's impressive run has him facing Jannik Sinner in the Miami Open final, and he's looking to join fellow Czech Jakub Mensik, who won the title last year. If he wins, Lehecka will jump to a career-high ranking of 12th.

“It's definitely something I've been working towards the whole year and the whole pre-season.”

Lehecka, ranked 22nd, credits his team's focus on consistency for his current success. “We made consistency a focus in training and matches, and it's paying off now,” he said, highlighting the team's hard work.

“We put big amounts of time, big amount of hours that we spend on the court and also in the gym,” he said.

“We were not doing anything specific towards this week, but I think it's the work that we did in the last two, three months that's just paying off right now.”
