Jannik Sinner is making waves at the Miami Open, advancing to the quarter-finals after defeating Alex Michelsen 7-5, 7-6(4) in 1 hour 41 minutes. This win keeps his “Sunshine Double hopes alive, following his Indian Wells triumph earlier this month.

Sinner, the Italian second seed, showed patience and skill, breaking Michelsen's serve in the 11th game of the first set and serving out for the win. He'll face Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-finals, looking to become the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to win both U.S. hard court Masters events in the same season.

The four-time Grand Slam champ had a tough match against 40th-ranked Michelsen but came out on top, setting up a quarterfinal clash with 19th seed Frances Tiafoe.

Jannik Sinner started to gain momentum in the ninth game of the first set, putting pressure on Michelsen's serve and creating three break points. Michelsen survived that scare, but Sinner broke through in the 11th game and closed out the set.

Tommy Paul cruises into the quarter-finals, beating Tomas Etcheverry 6-1, 6-3, and will face Arthur Fils. Fils also made it through, edging Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4.

“I feel like I served very well in important moments and that helped me out, especially in the tough moments,” said Sinner, who unfurled 15 aces to Michelsen's three.

“But today was not easy -- I played a night match yesterday and today in the daytime, so the conditions were very different.”

Michelsen turned the tables in the second set, breaking Sinner for a 4-2 lead and pushing to 5-2. But Sinner capitalized on Michelsen's struggles with the sunlight, mounting a comeback. He sealed the win with a powerful serve that Michelsen couldn't handle, landing wide.

Landaluce, who's had a meteoric rise, dedicated his win to his late grandmother - a touching tribute for the 20-year-old qualifier who's already making history in Miami.

“She would have been 101 last week, and she passed away a few months ago. I wanted to give her the victory,” Landaluce said.

“I'm playing really good this week. I knew I had to do it because there are unbelievable players here. I'm super happy to be here playing with these amazing players.”

Jiri Lehecka took down sixth seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2 in 2 hours 25 minutes, booking his quarter-final spot. Lehecka credited his aggressive third-set approach for the win.

“I just felt that in the third set, if I wanted to beat a guy like Taylor, I just needed to go for it and be aggressive,” Lehecka said.

“I needed to show the courage that I wanted to win the point. That's what I tried to do, and it worked well.”

Tommy Paul cruises into the quarter-finals, beating Tomas Etcheverry 6-1, 6-3, and will face Arthur Fils. Fils also made it through, edging Valentin Vacherot 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4.
