Lionel Messi scored his 899th career goal, helping Inter Miami secure a 2-1 win over DC United at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The Argentine superstar's goal came in the 27th minute, a deft chipped finish over DC United's goalkeeper Sean Johnson, after a sublime through ball from Mateo Silvetti.


This goal marks Messi's third of the season and leaves him just one goal shy of reaching the 900-goal milestone. Messi has scored 672 goals for Barcelona, 32 for Paris Saint-Germain, and 115 international goals for Argentina, with his 80th goal for Inter Miami.


Inter Miami took an early lead through Rodrigo De Paul's superb curling shot in the 17th minute. DC United rallied in the second half, with Tai Baribo scoring in the 75th minute, but Inter Miami held on to secure the win.
