Lyon lose at home to Monaco, Endrick's goal not enough...

Monaco came from behind to beat Lyon 2-1, securing a sixth straight Ligue 1 win for the first time since 2022. Lyon's unbeaten run at home ended in disappointment.

Monaco's first real chance came in the 15th minute, but Maghnes Akliouche's effort was smothered by Lyon keeper Dominik Greif. The visitors had scored at least two goals in each of their last seven away games.

Lyon fought back, with Endrick's long-range shot forcing Lukas Hradecky to make a save. The hosts kept pushing, with Pavel Sulc's header flying just wide and Orel Mangala's curling effort also causing Hradecky to dive.

Monaco were struggling to click, failing to replicate their recent form. Lamine Camara's clever cross caused chaos, but Afonso Moreira made a crucial clearance, denying Monaco a goal.

That lack of creativity was punished in the 42nd minute, when Endrick got free on the right and cut the ball back perfectly for Sulc to fire into the roof of the net.

Things almost got even better for the hosts on the stroke of half-time, when Corentin Tolisso struck the post and Endrick couldn’t react quickly enough to the rebound.

Both sides began the second half putting pressure on the opposition penalty areas, but it took until the 57th minute for either to create a chance.

Endrick was played through on goal, and he poked the ball past Hradecky but couldn’t beat Jordan Teze, who scrambled back to clear off the line.

Monaco got a lifeline in the 75th minute when Akliouche was fouled in the box, earning a penalty. Folarin Balogun stepped up and calmly scored the equalizer.

Lyon's hopes were briefly revived, but Greif made a crucial save to deny Ansu Fati. Monaco's pressure continued, with Balogun's shot flying wide after a frantic scramble in the box.

Lyon's hopes of a late comeback were dashed in the 89th minute when Nicolás Tagliafico was sent off for a bad challenge on Camara, extending their winless streak to eight matches. Meanwhile, Monaco's Sebastien Pocognoli secured his third win in the last four head-to-head meetings.
