Sevilla has parted ways with manager Matias Almeyda, citing the team's struggles in La Liga as the reason. The 52-year-old Argentine coach had only joined the club last July, but his tenure was marked by inconsistent performances, culminating in a 2-0 home defeat to Valencia.


Almeyda's departure leaves Sevilla in a precarious position, sitting 15th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone. The club's board has thanked Almeyda for his efforts and wished him well in his future endeavors.


“Matias Almeyda has been relieved of his duties as Sevilla FC first team head coach,” the statement read.


“Sevilla FC want to thank Matias Almeyda and his team for his efforts and professionalism and wish him the best for the future.”


Sevilla has parted ways with Matias Almeyda as their manager, following a 2-0 home defeat to Valencia, which left the team in 15th place, just three points above the relegation zone. Almeyda, who joined Sevilla last July, had a record of 10 wins, seven draws, and 15 losses from 32 matches. The club's statement thanked Almeyda for his efforts but didn't mention a replacement or interim coach.




Almeyda, 52, began his coaching career at River Plate in 2011 and managed AEK Athens from 2022 to 2025 before joining Sevilla on a three-year contract. His tenure was marked by inconsistent performances, including a seven-match ban for confronting a match official.
