South Korea beats Australia 6-2, with Moon Bo-Gyeong and Lee Jung-Hoo leading the charge, to advance to the WBC quarterfinals...

Moon Bo-Gyeong's second home run of the World Baseball Classic led South Korea to a crucial 6-2 win over Australia in Tokyo, securing their spot in the knockout phases. This victory comes after a thrilling match where both teams fought for second spot in Pool C behind Japan.

The win marks South Korea's first trip to the quarterfinals since 2017, with Moon contributing significantly to the team's success with 11 RBIs in the tournament. Australia, on the other hand, is eliminated despite winning two games.

Koreans spark into life! Moon's massive two-run homer (430ft) gets them off to a great start.

Korea's Big Moment

An inning later, Lee Jung-Hoo sparked the offense with a sharp line drive into center field, scoring Jahmai Jones. Moon followed up, cashing in Lee to make it 4-0.

Australia's bats were silent, and they remained scoreless midway through. But Korea wasn't done – they added a fifth run in the fifth, with Moon getting his fourth RBI. He singled into left field, setting up a comfortable lead.

Ahn Hyun-Min's run all but sealed the win, and Korea was rolling.

Robbie Glendenning would get his team on the board with a home run, but it looked too little, too late for the Australians, as the sides would trade runs in the latter stages, but South Korea held their nerve to close out the contest and secure a last-eight spot.

They are now likely to face the Dominican Republic in the quarter-finals.
