Dresden chaos, fans storm pitch in Bundesliga 2 match...
Dresden police are investigating after fans from Dynamo Dresden and Hertha Berlin stormed the pitch during their match on Saturday. The trouble started early, with pyrotechnics being used in both home and away sections, prompting police to launch a criminal investigation.
The match, which Hertha Berlin eventually won 1-0, was interrupted twice due to the chaos. Dynamo Dresden fans, reportedly angry over a stolen flag, broke through security barriers and ran onto the pitch, throwing flares and clashing with Hertha fans. Police intervened to restore order, and the game resumed after a 20-minute delay.
The incident has raised concerns about stadium safety, with the league likely to review the security lapses. Hertha Berlin's win provides a boost to their campaign, while Dynamo Dresden faces potential disciplinary action.
The match was halted for 20 minutes after fans invaded the pitch, forcing police to step in and separate the groups before play could resume.
“As part of the operation, the Dresden police initiated more than a dozen investigations for breach of the peace, dangerous bodily harm, property damage, insult and ticket fraud,” the statement said.

Dynamo Dresden's finance director Stephan Zimmermann apologised to spectators who weren't involved, expressing regret over the pitch invasion at the Rudolf Harbig Stadion.
“Our home games are known for their unique atmosphere. Images like those we saw tonight are unacceptable and massively damage not only our club, but football as a whole in Germany,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Hertha Berlin secured a narrow 1-0 win over Dynamo Dresden, thanks to Marten Winkler's 80th-minute goal. This victory keeps Hertha Berlin in sixth place in the Bundesliga 2 standings, while Dynamo Dresden slips to 15th. The match was marred by chaos, with fans storming the pitch and clashes between rival supporters, resulting in police intervention.
