Gian van Veen, the World Championship finalist, won't be competing in Night 7 of the Premier League Darts in Dublin due to kidney stones. The PDC announced that Van Veen has been hospitalized and is currently receiving treatment.

The 23-year-old Dutchman, ranked third in the world, was set to face Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals but will now miss the event. Van Gerwen receives a bye to the semi-finals, along with two league points and a +1 leg difference, while Van Veen gets no points and a -6 leg difference.

Van Veen apologized to fans, saying he's disappointed to miss the event, especially since Dublin is one of his favorite crowds. He's hoping to return soon and is currently focusing on his recovery.

“Right up until the very last moment, my biggest goal was to step onto that stage tonight, but sometimes things are just out of your control,” the “Giant” wrote on Instagram.

Van Veen also shared an update on his condition: “The pain started on Sunday morning, but it got much worse after I returned home from Göttingen. I’ve been in hospital since yesterday morning (Wednesday) and I hope to be able to go home either today or tomorrow.”

Michael van Gerwen gets a bye into the semifinals, guaranteeing him two points. The Premier League record winner was set to face a compatriot in the first round, but will now advance without playing.

'Mighty Mike', who's been struggling with health issues, missed Night 3 but is back on track with these points. It's his first points since Week 2, ending a tough streak of four consecutive opening-round eliminations.
