Liverpool's Champions League hopes take hit as Brighton secures 2-1 victory...

Danny Welbeck scored a goal in each half as Brighton & Hove Albion beat Liverpool 2-1, dealing a blow to the Reds' Champions League hopes. The match, which was delayed by 15 minutes, saw Liverpool struggle to find their rhythm, especially after Hugo Ekitike's early injury.

Liverpool's struggles continued as they failed to capitalize on their possession, with Brighton taking the lead through Welbeck's header in the 14th minute. Milos Kerkez equalized for Liverpool with a clever lob over the goalkeeper, but Welbeck scored again in the 56th minute to secure Brighton's victory.

Liverpool's struggles continued as they failed to replicate their impressive performance against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.

Curtis Jones replaced the striker, but the team got off to a slow start, conceding a goal inside the opening quarter-hour. Ferdi Kadıoğlu's cross from the left was headed back across goal by Diego Gomez, and Danny Welbeck capitalized, nodding in at the far post for his 11th Premier League goal of the campaign. This impressive strike made Welbeck the outright top English scorer in the division this season.

Liverpool pushed for an equalizer but struggled to create clear chances, with Alexis Mac Allister's header being the closest they came to scoring. The Reds' attack was patient but lacked pace, and it was a Brighton mistake that ultimately gifted them the equalizer.

Milos Kerkez capitalized on a glaring error from Brighton, lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper to level the score. Liverpool's pressure was building, but they were let down by a lack of clinical finishing.

Lewis Dunk's attempted clearance backfired spectacularly as Milos Kerkez pounced on the loose ball, ghosting in behind the Brighton defence. The wenter lobbed a gorgeous dink over Bart Verbruggen to level the game.

Brighton came out strong after halftime, and Danny Welbeck capitalized on a Yankuba Minteh cross, tapping in a cushioned pass from Jack Hinshelwood. The goal survived a lengthy VAR check for offside.

Welbeck's strike was his second of the game, and it proved decisive in Brighton's 2-1 win over Liverpool. Fabian Hurzeler's side showed renewed energy after the break, and Welbeck's clinical finish secured the victory.

The game opened up with chances flying in, and goalkeepers were kept busy. Giorgi Mamardashvili and Bart Verbruggen made crucial saves to keep scores level. Liverpool's second-half struggles continued, and they dodged a bullet when Jack Hinshelwood missed a sitter.

Kaoru Mitoma's brilliant dribble set up the chance, but Hinshelwood's miss kept Liverpool in the game.

Liverpool's chances of rescuing a point were slim, aside from Cody Gakpo's powerful strike that forced Verbruggen into a great save. They're now risking a fifth-place finish, trailing the top four by five points.

Brighton secured a crucial win, climbing into eighth place. The hosts could've scored more, but Curtis Jones blocked Yasin Ayari's goalbound effort.
