Danes secure 3-1 win in World Cup qualifier, Harder scores penalty...
Denmark got their World Cup qualifying campaign off to a perfect start, beating Serbia 3-1 at home. They started brightly, with Emma Faerge scoring a goal in the 1st minute, but it was ruled out for a free kick.
Denmark's Signe Bruun scored the opener, and they went on to dominate the game. The Danes' next goal came from a set piece, as Bruun scored her second of the match. Serbia pulled one back, but Denmark sealed the win with a third goal.
The wait wasn't long, though - just 13 minutes, Denmark took the lead! Mille Gejl cleverly let Pernille Harder's cross through, and Sofie Bredgaard was on the spot to score with a flat finish.
Six minutes later, Denmark doubled their lead! Mille Gejl's header set up Amalie Vangsgaard, who stung the ball home with a low drive, leaving the Serbian keeper no chance.
Serbia pulled one back just before halftime. Denmark's keeper Freja Thisgaard made a huge save, but the ball wasn't cleared, and Sara Stokic was left unmarked to score from close range.
The Serbian goal made the Danes a bit jittery in the second half, but they got a lifeline with a penalty call. Pernille Harder stepped up and converted it, securing the win for Denmark.
