Cucurella ponders Barcelona return

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella open to return to boyhood club, citing happiness in London but leaving door open for future move.

“It’s clear that if those situations arose, they’re difficult to recuse...”

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella is open to a return to Barcelona, admitting it would be “hard to turn down” a move to the La Liga giants. This isn't surprising, considering he spent eight years in Barcelona's esteemed La Masia academy before moving to Getafe in 2020. Cucurella has established himself as a key player at Chelsea, making 154 competitive appearances since joining in 2022.

Cucurella's comments come amid speculation about his future at Stamford Bridge, with his contract set to expire in 2028. He's not the only Chelsea player hinting at a possible exit, with Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer also rumored to be on the move. Chelsea's struggles this season, including a Champions League exit, have fueled uncertainty about the club's direction.

Cucurella spoke to reporters about his time in London, saying he's still happy at Chelsea, but hasn't ruled out a future return to Barcelona. “You always think about coming back, I’m very happy at London and Chelsea, so is my family, I’ll leave it for a few years from now,” he said.

The Chelsea player left the door open for a potential move back to his boyhood club, emphasizing his current focus is on thriving in the Premier League. Barcelona fans might be hoping he'll one day return.

When asked about Barcelona, he responded: “It’s clear that if those situations arose, they’re difficult to recuse, I’d have to consider it and talk to my family.”

“I’m not thinking about that right now, if it happens, we will see what decision to make.”

Enzo Fernandez is open to joining Real Madrid, and his desire to leave Chelsea has been made clear. He's even mentioned that he'd love to live in Madrid, which has fueled speculation about a potential transfer. Real Madrid is reportedly willing to make a significant offer, possibly including a swap deal with Eduardo Camavinga or Aurelien Tchouameni.

Meanwhile, Cole Palmer is also rumored to be unhappy at Stamford Bridge, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United reportedly interested in signing him. However, Chelsea is said to be asking for a hefty £150 million price tag, making it uncertain whether a move will happen.
