Vincent Kompany could have Harry Kane back in the squad for Saturday's game against Leverkusen, after the England captain missed two matches with a minor muscle injury.
Bayern Munich's Harry Kane is set to return to the squad for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen...
Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany is optimistic about having a fully fit squad for the season's finale, following the international break. The team is currently dealing with a growing injury list, including goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, defender Hiroki Ito, second-choice keeper Jonas Urbig, Jamal Musiala, and Alphonso Davies.
Kompany expressed relief that there are no long-term injuries, saying, “It could have been worse.” He's hopeful that Urbig will return next week, Musiala will resume training, and Davies will benefit from the break. Kompany also hinted at Harry Kane's possible return, stating, “He might play tomorrow.”
Bayern Munich's squad will be missing some key players for Saturday's league game against Bayer Leverkusen, but coach Vincent Kompany sees the international break as a welcome opportunity for his team to recharge. Veteran goalkeeper Sven Ulreich is set to start in goal, given Jonas Urbig's concussion and Manuel Neuer's ongoing recovery from a calf injury.
Kompany has expressed confidence in Ulreich, praising his experience and stability. Ulreich, 37, has been a reliable backup to Neuer and has made significant contributions to the team when called upon.
“It could have been worse,” Kompany told a press conference. “Jonas will hopefully be back sometime next week. Jamal, maybe next week he will train again. For Phonzie the international break will help and I hope we will have a full squad after the international break. That is positive for the final stretch of the season.”
Bayern Munich is riding high, leading the Bundesliga with 66 points, 11 clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, with nine matches left to play. They're also in the German Cup semis, facing Leverkusen on April 22nd, and hosting Atalanta next week for the Champions League return leg.
The Bundesliga is taking a break in the last week of March for international matches and World Cup playoffs, and will resume on April 4th. Meanwhile, Canada's Alphonso Davies has been ruled out of their friendlies against Iceland and Tunisia due to injury.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany is hoping to have a fully fit squad for the season's finale, but Davies' injury is a blow. Davies is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and is expected to be back in November.
“The good thing is there are no bad long-term injuries,” Kompany said. “It is just frustrating for the lads who just want to play.”
Kompany's got a boost with Harry Kane potentially back in the squad for Saturday's clash against Leverkusen, after missing the last two matches with a minor muscle injury. The England captain's fitness is a major boost for Bayern's title push.

“We'll have to be aggressive if we're going to get a result. Leverkusen have a lot of talent, they have a little less experience than in previous years. It'll be a good game for the fans and hopefully for Bayern… pic.twitter.com/AlpQIP8HmT
“He might play tomorrow,” the coach said. “He had a full week of training. We didn't take any risks with him. We can't let up, even though we're 11 points ahead. If Harry is fit, he'll play.”
