Arne Slot's Liverpool Sends Warning Shot to PSG with Galatasaray Thrashing
Arne Slot hails Liverpool's impressive 4-0 win over Galatasaray, setting up a Champions League quarter-final clash with defending champions PSG. The Reds will look to avenge their penalty shootout loss to PSG last season, when they won 1-0 at the Parc des Princes but lost 1-0 at home.

Arne Slot believes Liverpool's impressive 4-0 win over Galatasaray sent a strong message to Paris Saint-Germain, who they'll face in the Champions League quarter-finals. Slot thinks PSG won't be looking forward to the rematch, given Liverpool's dominant performance.
Last season, PSG edged past Liverpool on penalties in the last 16, going on to win the competition for the first time. However, Slot is confident in his team's abilities, citing their impressive display against Galatasaray. Liverpool's Mohamed Salah scored his 50th Champions League goal, and the team kept a clean sheet, conceding no chances.
They were flying high at the top of the Premier League, but their second season under Arne Slot has been a struggle. Currently sitting fifth in the English top flight, the Reds had to dig deep to overcome Galatasaray, coming from behind after losing the first leg 1-0 in Istanbul.
Their recent form hasn't been great, with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, which led to fans expressing their frustration. Slot acknowledged the disappointment, saying it's “never a nice feeling” to hear boos from his own fans. Despite this, he's confident in his team's ability to turn things around, especially with the support of their fans at Anfield.
Liverpool turned their fortunes around in style, with Dominik Szoboszlai's 25th-minute equalizer setting the tone for a dominant second half. Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mohamed Salah scored in the second half, with Salah also missing a penalty, as Liverpool bounced back strongly from a disappointing 1-1 draw with Tottenham.
The Reds were booed off the pitch on Sunday, but they responded with a commanding performance against Galatasaray, securing a 4-0 win and setting up a Champions League quarter-final with PSG.
“They haven't dropped their standards. It was hardly possible for them to improve, but they've been very impressive till now,” said Slot on facing the French champions.
“But I think after tonight they will not look forward to playing against us too.”
Last season's Champions League encounter between Liverpool and PSG was a real rollercoaster. Liverpool won 1-0 at the Parc des Princes, despite PSG dominating the game. But PSG turned the tables, winning 1-0 at Anfield in the second leg, thanks to a much-improved Liverpool display that wasn't enough to secure a win.
The French champions edged the tie on penalties, going on to lift the trophy.
“We were completely outplayed away from home. I think we played a great game here at Anfield and in the end we lost on penalties,” added Slot.

Arne Slot's decision to give his key players a breather against Spurs really paid off, as Liverpool's bench strength shone in the Champions League clash. Mohamed Salah returned to the starting lineup and made his presence felt, scoring his 50th Champions League goal, despite earlier missing a penalty and wasting some big chances.
Salah's goal was a highlight of a dominant second-half performance, which saw Liverpool cruise to a 4-0 win over Galatasaray.
“I think it says a lot about his mentality. He missed a penalty just before half-time and that was, of course, a difficult moment because after 45 minutes being 1-0 up was ridiculous if you looked at the run of play,” said Slot.
“Then to come out second half and perform like that. A great assist to Hugo and the goal he scored was a trademark of him.”
