AGF, Midtjylland draw blank as Brondby fail to score...

AGF and FC Midtjylland's title hopes were put on hold as they settled for draws, with AGF drawing 0-0 with Brondby on Sunday in Danish Superliga.

Brondby's struggles continue, with the team still waiting for their first goal of 2026.

AGF vs Brondby

AGF, backed up by a sell-out crowd at Ceres Park Vejlby, began confidently and took control of proceedings in the opening part of the game. They also came very close to taking the lead after 20 minutes, when Frederik Emery launched a mazy run through the Brondby defense only for his strong close-range effort to bounce off the crossbar into safety.

AGF dodged a bullet just before halftime when Janni Serra's own header was cleared off the line by Eric Kahl, with Brondby claiming the ball had crossed the line.

AGF dominated the second half, but Brondby keeper Patrick Pentz was the hero, making two stunning saves to keep the game goalless.

Pentz first denied Gift Links' curling shot, then tipped Tobias Bech's late free-kick over the bar, denying AGF a much-deserved winner.

Viborg vs FC Midtjylland

FC Midtjylland's trophy hopes took a hit with a 1-1 draw at Viborg, adding to their disappointment after the Europa League exit against Nottingham Forest.

“It was just one big fight,” said FC Midtjylland's Mads Bech Sorensen after the game. The match lived up to his description, with a raw and physical 90 minutes lacking creative build-up, played on a pitch that didn't exactly inspire spectacular football.

Eight minutes into the second half, Mike Tullberg's outfit took the lead when Junior Brumado squared a delivery across goal where the on-rushing Valdemar Byskov slid in to steer the ball past goalkeeper Lucas Lund in the Viborg goal.

However, the home side never gave in and were rewarded for their resilience after 69 minutes when Mads Sondergaard turned provider for Dorian Junior, who remained composed and coolly curled the ball past the reach of Midtjylland keeper Elias Olafsson to restore parity.

FC Midtjylland thought they'd snatched a late win when Srdjan Kuzmic scored an own goal, but VAR ruled it offside due to Mads Bech's arm touching the ball.

The goal wouldn't have mattered anyway, as AGF drew 0-0 with Brondby, leaving Midtjylland stuck on the same points.

League Standings Update

AGF lead the Danish league with a 5-point cushion over FC Midtjylland. FC Nordsjaelland, Viborg, and Sonderjyske are level on points, 15 points behind AGF, with Nordsjaelland's win moving them up to third.
