Aaron Judge kicked off the 2026 MLB season with a bang, hitting his first home run of the year after successfully challenging a call in the same at-bat against the San Francisco Giants. This was also his first hit of the season, coming after a rough start with 0-for-7 and five strikeouts.

Judge's ABS challenge overturned a called strike to a ball, giving him a 2-0 count. He then crushed a 93 mph fastball 405 feet for a two-run homer in the sixth inning, giving the Yankees the lead. Giancarlo Stanton added another homer later in the inning, and the Yankees went on to win 3-0 (details here).

The Yankees crushed the Giants 7-0 on Opening Day, extending their win streak to six games. Max Fried dominated on the mound, pitching 6 1/3 scoreless innings, while Trent Grisham's two-run triple sparked a five-run second inning. Aaron Judge went hitless, striking out four times, but the Yankees' balanced attack proved too much for the Giants.
