Lucas Boye's late equalizer rescued a 2-2 draw for Alaves against Girona in a thrilling LaLiga encounter. The Argentina striker's tap-in, courtesy of a Yusi cross and a Gazzaniga error, cancelled out Girona's earlier lead, securing a vital point for Alaves and keeping them three points clear of relegation.

Girona had taken an early lead through a Gazzaniga mistake, but Alaves fought back to level before Girona regained the lead. The hosts pushed for a winner, but Boye's late strike ensured a share of the spoils, extending Girona's unbeaten run to seven games.

Daley Blind's hesitation almost gifted Toni Martinez a goal, but the forward blasted the ball over Gazzaniga's goal, missing a great chance. Girona's confidence soared, dominating possession and creating chances, with Viktor Tsygankov's 15th-minute shot testing the visitors' defense.

The first half remained largely open, with few clear-cut chances until the 30th minute. Both teams struggled to break through, keeping spectators on the edge. 

A well-worked corner by Girona led to Axel Witsel's headed pass, and Vladyslav Vanat tapped home at the far post, putting Girona ahead. Girona dominated possession, with Bryan Gil dictating play and Ivan Martin causing problems for Alaves.

The visitors' pressure paid off, and they went into halftime on top. Alaves struggled to contain Girona's midfield, and Vanat's goal looked like the start of something big.

Alaves came out strong after the break, with Youssef Enriquez and Pablo Ibanez creating early chances. Ibanez's shot even injured Gazzaniga, who needed medical attention before resuming play. Despite dominating possession, Alaves remained vulnerable to Girona's long balls, struggling to contain Gil's attacks.

Girona's threat on the counter didn't deter Alaves, who kept pushing forward. The hosts' pressure was palpable, but Gil's presence kept Girona in the game. 

Girona's offense finally clicked, with Azzedine Ounahi and Axel Witsel unleashing two shots in quick succession in the 69th minute. This sparked a surge in momentum, and shortly after, Ounahi's brilliant pass left Alaves's defense in tatters.

Viktor Tsygankov capitalized, rounding Antonio Sivera to score into an empty net. Girona's pressure paid off, extending their lead.
