“It was tricky out there for ‌sure, just a little bit flat light, so definitely hard to see on the jumps...”

Norway's Birk Ruud took home the gold medal in the men's slopestyle event at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, thanks to an impressive first run. Ruud's score of 86.28 stood strong, beating out American Alex Hall, who settled for silver with a score of 85.75. Hall, the defending champion, had a tough time on the course, wobbling on his first attempt but rebounding with a solid second run.

Luca Harrington of New Zealand snagged the bronze medal, becoming one of the youngest competitors at just 21 years old. The slopestyle event was a challenging one, with many skiers struggling to navigate the course. Team USA extended their remarkable medal streak in slopestyle, having earned a medal in every Olympics since the event's introduction in 2014.

Luca Harrington, 21, secured a bronze medal for New Zealand in the men's slopestyle event at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. He excelled in his third run, scoring 85.15, after struggling with a switch triple cork 1620 on his first two attempts.

The slopestyle contest was challenging, with eight of the 12 skiers falling in the first round. The event requires skiers to navigate rails and perform aerial tricks, showcasing difficulty and originality to impress judges. The best score from each skier's three runs determines the rankings.

Birk Ruud nailed a superb first run, shooting him to the top of the leaderboard with a score of 86.28. Alex Hall tried to catch up but stumbled on his third attempt, settling for silver with 85.75. Luca Harrington rounded out the podium with a score of 85.15.

Birk Ruud, 25, celebrated his gold medal win in the men's slopestyle with a fist pump and hugs for fellow medallists Alex Hall and Luca Harrington. The Norwegian skier, who's also the big air gold medalist from Beijing, will look to defend his title this Sunday.

“It was kind of the last piece to the collection, with big air and slopestyle,” Ruud said of his new medal.

“It's a beautiful feeling and a special moment. I'll try to take it in.”

Alex Hall was thrilled with his silver medal win in the men's slopestyle event, clapping his hands and smiling after the competition. He had a rocky start, wobbling on his first attempt, but bounced back with a solid second run - one he hadn't even fully completed in practice. This impressive rebound secured his spot on the podium.

Hall's silver extends Team USA's remarkable streak, earning a slopestyle medal in every Olympics since the event debuted in 2014. Birk Ruud of Norway took home the gold, while Luca Harrington of New Zealand claimed bronze.

“I was so stoked to land that run,” Hall said. “It was tricky out there for ‌sure, just a little bit flat light, so definitely hard to see on the jumps.”

“I knew I had to go all out,” Hall added. “The talent's just so incredible.”

Jesper Tjader's medal hopes were dashed when he crash-landed off a rail in his third run, sending his ski flying. The defending bronze medalist ended up in fifth place.
