The 19-year-old was stretchered off the course after losing a ski in both runs, with his mother by his side and medical staff attending to him.


The halfpipe event is inherently high-risk, with athletes launching themselves off a 7.2-meter-high semi-cylindrical course to perform complex aerial tricks. It's a testament to the skill and bravery of these athletes that they push themselves to such extremes, but it's also a reminder of the dangers involved.
