Samu Aghehowa's first-half brace secured a 2-1 win for FC Porto over Malmo FF in the UEFA Europa League, maintaining their 100% home record in the league phase. Aghehowa's goals came in the 30th and 36th minutes, giving Porto a strong lead going into halftime.

Porto dominated the early stages, with Martim Fernandes testing Malmo goalkeeper Robin Olsen early on. The hosts continued to press, and Aghehowa's clinical finishing gave them a 2-0 lead at the break. Malmo's F Sampaio de Moura scored an own goal in the 94th minute, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.

Utrecht's defense was put to the test when Jakub Kiwior's loose pass from a goal-kick almost gave Malmo an opening. Luckily, Kiwior quickly made amends with a crucial block, denying Salifou Soumah's effort. This scare didn't deter the Portuguese hosts, who immediately went on the attack, troubling Malmo's goalkeeper Olsen with shots from Victor Froholdt, Borja Sainz, and Samu, all within a short span.

Porto's dominance was evident, and it was only a matter of time before Samu Aghehowa broke Malmo's resistance. Rodrigo Mora's clever play set up the opportunity, lifting the ball towards the far post for Samu to head home.

Samu's second goal was a testament to his clinical finishing, controlling the ball and scoring after Borja Sainz's headed delivery was redirected across goal. This brings his tally to 13 goals from 20 competitive matches this season, showcasing his impressive form.

FC Porto's second-half display was marked by controlled possession, but they couldn't quite match the intensity of their first-half dominance. It wasn't until the 78th minute that William Gomes registered the half's first shot on target, a driven effort that was comfortably dealt with by Malmo goalkeeper Olsen. However, Olsen had to be on his toes to keep out Froholdt and Deniz Gul's headers in the latter stages.

Porto narrowly avoided a heartache, missing out on a third goal and conceding late through Francisco Moura's unfortunate own goal. The goal came after the ball bounced off the post and into the net, leaving the Portuguese giants relieved to have escaped with a 2-1 win.
Despite the late scare, Porto will be pleased with the three points, which moves them into the top eight. Malmo, on the other hand, remains in 34th spot with just one point from six games, six points off the qualification places with only two matches to play.
