Rayo Vallecano fans were attacked by masked Polish hooligans armed with batons on the motorway in Poland, leaving three fans hospitalized. The incident occurred in the middle of the night, ahead of the Europa Conference League match between Jagiellonia Bialystok and Rayo Vallecano.


The attack happened when two cars blocked the coaches carrying the Spanish fans, forcing them to stop on the S8 motorway near Prosienica village in east-central Poland. Several dozen people emerged from a nearby forest and attacked the Spaniards, with police reporting that a fence at the side of the motorway had been cut through.


Tense situation unfolded when a group of people, estimated to be several dozen, suddenly appeared from a nearby forest and launched an attack on the Spaniards. Authorities reported that the attackers had gained access to the motorway by cutting through a fence, highlighting a disturbing breach of security.


“At the scene, ‍paramedics from ‌an ambulance provided assistance to the injured, and three people were taken to hospital,” the police said in a post on ⁠X.


“A total of seven people were detained in connection with the incident. Items seized included balaclavas, telescopic batons, wooden sticks, and metal-cutting shears.”




Rayo Vallecano hasn't commented on the incident yet, and their ultras group, Bukaneros, haven't mentioned it on social media. Meanwhile, Spanish police are saying they don't have any info on it.


As for the teams, Jagiellonia's sitting pretty in ninth place with eight points in the Conference League, while Rayo's struggling a bit in 12th with seven points from four games.
