Mo Salah Blasts Liverpool, Hints at Exit Amid Slot Row
Mohamed Salah claims he's been 'thrown under the bus' by Liverpool, hinting at exit amid strained relationship with Arne Slot.
Mohamed Salah is considering leaving Liverpool due to his strained relationship with manager Arne Slot. The Egyptian star feels “thrown under the bus” by the club, citing broken promises and being unfairly blamed for Liverpool's poor performance.
Salah, who signed a two-year contract extension in April, has been an unused substitute in two of Liverpool's last three Premier League matches. He expressed his disappointment, stating that he has done “so much for this club” and doesn't understand why he's being treated this way.
The forward hinted that his next game against Brighton might be his last for Liverpool, saying he's going to “enjoy it” regardless of whether he plays or not. Salah's frustration stems from feeling like he's being scapegoated, and he questions why he's always the one defending himself.
Liverpool's poor form has sparked speculation about Salah's future, with Saudi Pro League clubs Al Hilal and Al Ittihad reportedly interested in signing him. Slot has remained tight-lipped about Salah's return to the team, emphasizing that every player must earn their place.
“I could not believe I was sitting on the bench for 90 minutes,” he told reporters after Liverpool's dramatic 3-3 draw against Leeds United. “That’s the third time. It’s the first time in my career I think.
“(I am) very disappointed, I have done so much for this club over the years, especially last season, It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That’s how I feel.
“Someone wants me to get all the blame. The club promised me a lot in summer. Now I’m on bench so I can say they haven’t kept those promises.

Mohamed Salah, the 33-year-old Egyptian football star, has been a vital part of Liverpool's success over the past eight years, scoring 250 goals and winning two Premier League titles. However, his relationship with manager Arne Slot appears to have deteriorated, despite his impressive performance in the 2024/25 season.
Salah's frustration became evident after he was benched for the third consecutive game, leading him to express his disappointment and hurt in a post-match interview. He claimed that promises made to him in the summer had not been kept and felt “thrown under the bus” by the club. Salah also stated that his relationship with Slot had broken down completely, suggesting that someone didn't want him at the club.
The Egyptian forward hinted that his time at Liverpool might be coming to an end, inviting his parents to the Brighton game and implying it could be his last at Anfield. Salah's future is uncertain, with potential destinations including the Saudi Pro League.
“I used to have a good relationship (with manager Slot). Now we don’t have any relationship and I don't know why.
“It seems like someone does not want me in the club.”
